This pipe from actiTube which was handmade in Germany is made of neutral pear wood.

The head part consists of high-quality and heat-resistant wood it was treated with vegetable oil, usually one uses clear varnish and stain.

The taste when smoking is positively influenced by the used wood.

For a milder smoking pleasure one can use the activated carbon filters, so that a large portion of the pollutants is filtered.
